TRANSMEDIA MAP / PHYSICAL + DIGITAL
01 / THE CORE PROBLEM

Preserving the Suspension of Disbelief
The Mysterious Package Company delivers bespoke, narrative-driven mysteries via the mail. Experiences arrive unannounced in wooden crates and weathered envelopes filled with realistic artifacts, cursed objects, and historical journals. The primary UX challenge was reconciling commercial transactions with complete artistic immersion. Standard retail conventions—flat carts, sterile modals, and generic receipt emails—shatter the illusion of a secretive, century-old society. The digital experience needed complex e-commerce, custom recipient onboarding, and subscriber portals while maintaining an authentic Victorian aesthetic.
02 / THE PROCESS & STRATEGIC TRADE-OFFS

The Process & Strategic Trade-Offs
Transmedia Collaboration: I collaborated closely with game designers, physical artisans, prop makers, and web developers to create a seamless world across paper and screen.
Atmospheric E-Commerce Architecture: I designed custom layouts balancing atmospheric cinemagraphs, occult typographic styling, and rich lore with frictionless transactional usability. Hidden account management, custom mailing schedules, and gift recipient declarations were masked behind thematic nomenclature.
The Digital Vault Codex: For the physical quarterly publication Curios & Conundrums, I co-developed an interactive digital companion puzzle. Readers extracted cryptic ciphers from physical broadsheet articles, inputting answers into a progressive web interface that unlocked symbols, revealed deeper layers of lore, and unlocked subscriber-only rewards.

03 / THE SOLUTION & BUSINESS IMPACT

The Solution & Business Impact
Immersion-First Commerce: Successfully integrated recurring memberships, cart logic, and multi-address shipping into an award-winning digital experience. Omnichannel Engagement: Elevated subscriber retention through the interactive digital vault codex, bridging tangible paper publications with interactive digital gameplay. Physical Artifact Craft: Designed authentic period props, typography, and sealed ephemera, validating that rigorous UX thinking applies to tactile experiences as powerfully as digital interfaces.
